WmiApSrv.exe WMI Performance Reverse Adapter – is an abbreviation for the Windows Management Instrumentation Service Provider. As mentioned in the description of Task Manager, this is the node of the WMI provider. Usage of the CPU
Mostly WmiApSrv.exe is not active and you can’t see in the “Task Manager”. If suddenly process starts using to much of the CPU there are few reasons:
• connection of new devices to the computer;
• updating drivers or other Windows components;
• launching applications that display the temperature of the graphics card and CPU.
This load will not be long, immediately after the end of the procedure, all resources will be released. If none of the above happens on the PC, and the WMI Provider slows down, you must restart or disable some services.
If you have any problems with the PC, the first thing to do is to restart it. If the reboot causes data loss, just restart WMI. Check the load level. If it does not decrease, then resources are consumed by a third-party process that constantly requests information via WMI.
Disabling the process
If disabling the dependent processes did not help, you can turn off the WMI Provider host itself. Do not forget that this is a system element, without which Windows or some programs may start to work incorrectly.
Is it a virus?
If you can not reduce the load from the WMI Provider, the virus can be masked to the system utility. Viruses usually use the same name as system processes but with wrong localization – not “System32”
